Paige + Ben // Intimate Late Summer Wedding At St Jean // Sonoma Wedding Photography

Paige and Ben met in San Francisco in 2011 when they joined the same dodgeball Paige asked him out a few months later and knew almost immediately that he was the one. In the past 6+ years, they have moved to New York and back to California again and traveled the world. I flew to New York last fall to do their engagement session and capture that chapter of their lives. The wedding itself, was on September 16, 2017, at Chateau St. Jean in Kenwood, CA, but feels like being in Southern France.

Ben proposed when they were traveling in Iceland. They were exploring some of the natural sites, and while Paige was standing on top of a crevice in the earth where the Northern and European tectonic plates meet, Ben got down on one knee. They immediately found a gas station to buy a bottle of champagne to begin celebrating. That night, they stayed in the middle of nowhere and watched the Northern Lights dance and move across the sky. The rest of the trip was spent exploring while brainstorming their dream wedding.

Their vision for the wedding was a theme of “natural elegance with an urban edge.” They wanted it to feel modern yet timeless at the same time, and it turned out absolutely incredible!  The final palette combined blues and greens in the form of silver/olive/sage, with blush, crème and a touch of marsala. Charlotte and Daughters (florist) put together gorgeous, eclectic florals and installations using garden roses, dahlias, ranunculus, astrantia, jasmine vines, olive greens, and seeded eucalyptus.

The lounge seating, blankets, welcome sign, flower petal cones for tossing post-ceremony, cigar bar, coffee favors, floral arch/structure for ceremony, lanterns, escort card display, lawn games and welcome kits for guests were only a few of the unique and thoughtful details that made Paige and Bens wedding so memorable. Bellarosa String Quartet serenaded the guests as the Tomales Bay Oyster girls shucked oysters amongst the crowd during cocktail hour, followed by a formal 3-course dinner by Park Avenue Catering (a wine country favorite).

As the sun began to creep towards the ridge, we went out to the vineyards for golden hour. These two are so in love and capturing their relationship was so special. The entire day was filled with laughter and happy tears. The thoughtful details were woven into every piece of the wedding, which made it feel intimate and personal. My favorite part of the evening was when Paige entered the dance floor with glowing light up Nike’s to spice things up!
